And So, I continue My Search… (Yep, Still Not Finished)

Apple Macbook
Ok. So i’ve almost made my decision to change to mac. What I want to ask you guys/gals is: Macbook/Macbook Pro/ or wait? I’ve always thought that if i would switch to mac, that i would go with the MBP. I’ve been doing my “research” lately, and i have found out that with all the upgrades, tweakings, and the recent mac OS, i could get an almost identical performance on the macbook pro as on the macbook. Now i know that Macbook Pro is built as a higher end line, but if i get the same performance from an upgraded macbook (it adds up to approx. the same price on both systems), then why should i not go for a macbook. What i’m asking is simply that what am i not going to find and be able to do on an upgraded macbook that i can only do on an MBP?? Also, to all the Apple fans out there, do you think i should wait for a seemingly close-to-be-released Apple notebook??

Apple Macbook Pro

UPDATE: for those of you who aren’t sure WHY they should switch to a mac, i present to you SwitchingToMac (I’m even starting to talk like a mac user / PC hater ! :P)

    Well I wouldn’t buy into the whole “Apple is different thing”, just check my blog for the recent screw-job apple is putting to ipod users this week (basically they created a bug in the new version of itunes that has killed 100 ipods in three days!)

    As they are now deleting posts about this on their disccussion board I ask that you pass this on.

    Ok. Here’s the thing americandust:
    There is no perfect piece of technology anywhere in this world. Windows Vista has jammed with people all around the world. The Dell XPS M1330 is recently said to cause electric shocks, and now u r saying that iPods are freezing cuz of bugs. Now i know i might sound like i’m defending apple (which i might actually be doing :P), but i think that this happens with all devices in the world. -i can’t believe im defending Apple-!! 😛

    You are going to the WHITE side! looool! I will stick to my jumble of PCs and Linux thank you very much!

    I would go with the MBP since it has a bit of a better architecture to be abused then the MacBook 🙂

    looool…i don’t know why, bes i feel that the keyboard of the macbook is better than the MBP :S

    Good point… The MacBook Pro is better in all aspects… and I’m sure you did your search to stand on the similarities and differences regarding specs but the other reasons that make the high-end MacBook Pro all worth it are:-

    * Alloy casing
    = more safety instead of that white plastic that’ll crackup or catch stains quickly.

    * Backlit Keyboard
    = good for working in dark place.

    * Larger screen than MacBook
    = better visibility + TFT LED screen (15″)

    My advice is to wait for the new one. Whether it’s coming out next week or in 6 months keep saving for it.

    MacBook Pro advantages over a MacBook:
    -Anodized Aluminum case.
    -Larger screen with higher resolution. (1440 by 900 vs 1280 by 800)
    -Full size DVI out. (Supports dual-link for 30 inch 2560 x 1600 resolutions)
    -FireWire 800 port.
    -PC Card Slot.
    -Dedicated Graphics card with more ram and better performance. (Programs like Final Cut and Aperture require this)
    -Backlit keyboard.
    -Status, looks and sex appeal.
